First News Does Wacky Races!

First News will be entering the Wacky Races in Shrewsbury and in Northwich this summer. But, we need a kart to enter- this is where you all come in!

We’d like to enter a kart designed by First News readers. If you need some inspiration…

Competition

Hopefully these pictures give a small idea of just how crazy, hare-brained and wacky we want your design entries to be!

The First News kart will have to whizz down a 300m course which may have small jumps, chicanes, obstacles and even water!

For your entry, we’d like to see how each side of the kart will look, plus the front and the back.

Your kart should be no longer than 250cm front to back, and no wider than 160cm. It can have three or four wheels, but must have a seat or a steering wheel.

There’s no need to worry about an engine- the course is all downhill!

Apart from that, there are no restrictions on your design- just look at the examples above!

We’d love to hear what’s inspired your design, and anything else you think is important to the design. You can use your creation to convey an important message, or simply design something so crazy and funny that people will be laughing their socks off!

You don’t need to worry about the mechanical build- we’ll manage that.

We will select two designs to create and enter into the Wacky Races. Plus, the two winners will each receive a £100 Amazon voucher!

How to enter!

To enter, draw your design on a piece of paper or on a computer. Add a brief explanation of how and why you have come up with this design and anything we should consider in the build.

You can enter by post: First News Wacky Races, 7 Playhouse Court, 62 Southwark Bridge Road, London, SE1 0AT or you can email your designs to [email protected], putting Racers in the subject box.

First News will showcase some of the wacky entires in the newspaper and on our social media channels! The deadline for entry is 30th March 2020.

Trusted by parents, loved by children and encouraged by teachers.
